Delaware Speedway regrets to announce the passing of famous Super Modified driver Harvey Lennox at age 85. Lennox was an incredibly successful competitor in the region throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He was famous for driving his signature vehicle, “Tammy 10”, and amassed an astounding 182 victories throughout his career. He claimed track championships at CNE Speedway (Toronto), Bridgeport Speedway (Kitchener), Nilestown Speedway (London), and Delaware Speedway. Lennox was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the London Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Harvey also raced at Oswego Speedway several times throughout his career and collected five top 5's in 1971. Delaware Speedway fans were privileged to pay tribute to Harvey Lennox at the 2014 ISMA Super Modified event. Lennox was the honourary grand marshal for the race where fans cheered and applauded the legendary racer one last time during opening ceremonies.

A picture of Harvey Lennox and his supermodified taken in 1967 at Flamboro Speedway (near Hamilton, Ontario). 1967 was Canada's centennial year, so he changed the name of his car that year from “Tammy 10” to “The Centennial Flyer” (number 100). If you look carefully, you can see “Tammy 10” embroidered on his fire suit. Harv also grew a beard and handle-bar moustache to commemorate Canada’s centennial year. 1967 was the first year that I went to a supermodified race… Lennox quickly became my favourite. In those days, the cars were also called “super sprints”.
